Motion Design

Various After Effects Experiments

While the majority of the projects I work on are hand-drawn animated productions, I also love motion media and graphic design. Starting in Fall of 2025, I began developing various motion design projects in after effects. Below you’ll find the various final videos, along with their early concepts/test animations. Most times, I started with very rudimentary sketches and then jumped straight into production. I have a lot of fun developing basic concepts like these to fully realized animations.

– How They Make Turtles –

This is a short process animation I made about the life cycle of a turtle. I imagine this to be playing on loop at a reptile exhibit or something. I hope you can tell I made an effort to be super duper scientifically accurate for this one. The turtle is a simple character rig I made in after effects!

– Flip Flop Fliep Flap –

For this project, I animated the first 30 seconds of “Flip Flop Fliep Flap” by Sigurd Barret. I was inspired by the energetic pace of the song, and wanted to pair it with fast-flying text and funny characters. This one was super fun, because I started with a loose concept and it evolved as I was animating and listening to the song.

– David Lynch on Creativity –

Here, I animated a clip of David Lynch talking about creativity. I was heavily inspired by UPA animation here. I’m responsible for all of the motion graphics, but the live-action footage I took from stock websites (and the paintings in the opening sequence are by Van Gogh of course).
